Arctic Audubon Society

The Arctic Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, was chartered in 1977.

Arctic Audubon has worked to protect Alaskan ecosystems by encouraging research, education, and management. We have consistently kept up-to-date on the conservation issues that face Alaska. Currently, we are most concerned with the Tanana Valley State Forest Management Plan, proposed oil and gas development in the Minto Flats southwest of Fairbanks, protection of critical habitat areas in the NPR-A, and responsible conservation of Alaska's wildlife refuges.

Mission of the
Arctic Audubon Society

Earth has unparalleled diversity, productivity and beauty, and provides for life itself.  Recognizing the full value of nature, we work to protect Alaskan ecosystems by encouraging research, education, and management that will contribute to appreciation and good stewardship of this natural heritage.  We also strive to conduct our own lives in harmony with nature.
