Wild Idea

Conservation Solutions for Southeast Alaska

SEACC's founders set out to maintain Southeast Alaska's rich web of life by protecting a network of reserves across the forest.  After defending these special places against numerous threats for almost four decades, we're now taking a new path to finish what we started and secure lasting protections for these special places.

Our Wild Idea initiative has three main components:

  1. Earn lasting protections for the biological heart of the forest,
  2. Restore fish and wildlife habitat
  3. Allow for responsible logging that is appropriately scaled to the forest.

If we are successful, this strategy will help keep Southeast Alaska's interwoven natural world and local communities intact and stable for years to come.

It's a big goal, and we know that we can't do it alone, which is why we've been working with a diverse range of partners on a variety of levels.  And it's why we can use your help!
