Climate Change
Where will this show up?
The Heat is On
"Now is the time to confront this challenge once and for all. Delay is no longer an option. The stakes are too high. The consequences, too serious." --President Barak Obama
To address the problem of climate change here in Alaska, The Heat is On campaign is working to:
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050
- Establish a cap and trade program that relies strongly on the marketplace to set carbon prices
- Use generated state revenues to fund clean energy technology and jobs as well as community and natural resource impact assistance, especially for Alaskan communities that need to be relocated
