The Four Es
-
We as Alaskans accept our moral responsibility to be careful stewards of the spectacular natural environment that provides for our unique way of life. We believe that a sound economy and a sound environment go hand in hand and that Alaska would be well served to move away from a boom and bust economy and toward a more sustainable future supporting viable communities from Ketchikan to Barrow. The path to this future lies in following these four E’s – Environment, Energy, Economy and Ethics.
-
Alaska's Energy Options
-
Whether it is rural Alaskans coping with $8 gallon diesel, Fairbanks residents struggling with burdensome increases in home heating oil or Juneau residents coping with an avalanche-induced energy crisis, Alaskans across the state are feeling the pain of high energy costs. Fortunately, rising oil prices also means rising revenues to the State of Alaska and as such the State can provide a path to reduced monthly bills and long-term energy security.

ACA's Position Paper on the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline
-
ACA believes that the United States and the world must actively pursue the development and integration of new energy sources that are clean and renewable in order to strengthen the US economy, reduce dependence of foreign sources of energy, and to reverse global climate change that is threatening our way of life. Alaska is in a unique position to help shape the energy future of the US while maintaining Alaska’s prosperity. Integral to Alaska
retaining its position as an energy state is the urgent need to begin developing and investing in renewable energy projects throughout Alaska; from geothermal in the Aleutians to wind in the Arctic.

Lake Chakachamna Hydroelectric Project
-
Alaska Conservation Alliance’s mission is to protect Alaska’s air, land and water by empowering Alaskans to participate effectively in the civic arena.
Lake Chakachamna Hydroelectric is a renewable energy project in the early stages of development with the potential to provide up to 330MW of electricity to Alaska’s Railbelt energy grid. The Lake Chakachamna Hydroelectric project process could share information with other renewable energy projects seeking to provide energy to the Railbelt grid.
The Issue Policy Council recognizes that the Project could be a significant source of renewable, reliable and
flat-priced electric capacity and energy for Alaska. However, the Council reserves judgment on construction of the Project until completion of all
environmental and economic assessments, support TDX Power, Inc.’s continuing efforts to plan development of the Project in a manner that is responsive to community concerns and sensitive to potential impacts to anadromous fish as well as other environmental impacts.

Gov. Parnell set an ambitious goal of opening the Arctic to extractive resource development with state built roads. Does the state have the financial wherewithal to complete all these roads and are they wise investments?
