We are not going to generate most of our power from renewables anytime soon unless there is an extraordinary advancement in technology, which cannot be foreseen at the present time. Less than 3 percent of U.S. power comes from non-hydro renewable sources, and hydroelectric accounts for less than 6 percent. Many states that are heavily dependent on hydro-power are talking seriously about tearing down dams due to their impact on fish habitat.
